Sarah Hecht is an actor and educator who grew up in Knoxville, TN, and currently lives in Chicago, IL. In the Chicago area, Sarah's performed with The Building Stage / Theatre on the Lake (Jeff nomination- “Moby-Dick”), The Arc Theatre, Muse of Fire, Emerald City, Filament Theatre, Citadel Theatre, and Cock and Bull Theatre, among others. She has also written and directed plays for Arc Theatre's annual Arcitext festival.
Sarah is passionate about devised ensemble theatre, and loves creating original work through a collaborative process. She's created several original plays with Cock and Bull Theatre, where she is a company member. She has also devised new work with Filament Theatre,The Building Stage, Northwoods Ramah Theatre Company, and for the Chicago Fringe Festival.
Also a teacher, Sarah currently works as an adjunct instructor of Performance at DePaul University and Speech at Truman College. She also privately coaches individuals in public speaking skills.
Prior to Chicago, Sarah lived in New York where she performed with The Metropolitan Opera, Manhattan Children's Theatre, the 13th Street Theatre, and Manhattan Theatre Source, among others.
Sarah holds an MFA in Acting at DePaul University and a BA from Tufts University, and has trained with The British American Drama Academy and the Moscow Art Theatre.
